Hilltop Grass Farm originally began as a grass beef cattle operation, but has evolved into a Nubian goat and milk production enterprise. Owned and managed by Grace, Beth and Paul Elijah, the Grass Farm currently consists of ten does.
The does provide milk to Elijah Ranch bottle calves while continuing to raise their own offspring, often twins or triplets. Our herd raises their extended family of kids and mingles freely with our horse herd on nearly twenty acres of pasture. They have free access to plenty of room for exercise, ‘Lil Spring waterers, mineral, and a wide variety of vegetation. They are an important part of our grass management plan, as they thrive off of many varieties of vegetation left behind by the horse and cattle herd.
Our goats are excellent milk producers, nurturing dams, weed management experts, and beloved family pets. “Strawberry” was shown by Beth Elijah at the 2011 Ransom County Fair, where she received both “Grand Champion” and “Grand Overall” acclaims. Strawberry is a family favorite, and her doelings are every bit as attractive and personable as their dam. We expect great things out of them in the coming years.
